Spring Break, Day Six

I have passed the halfway point of my time off. A day of recovery...that is what I need. We took a trip to Omaha yesterday, to the Henry Doorly Zoo. It was six hours of driving (round trip), six hours of walking the zoo (fun, fun) and about an hour at the IMAX show Whales and Dolphins.

Today is the first day of spring officially. The equinox. It is supposed to get up to 68 degrees today. What a way for Spring to come in. Yesterday was pretty nice too. We enjoyed a sunny day. It is supposed to be cloudy in Omaha today, and was cloudy here until after midnight.

Spring Break Day Two

Yesterday we went to the Oak Park Mall and visited the Rain Forest Cafe for Joe's 25th Birthday. Yes, we saw animatronic snakes, elephants and a crocodile that all equally unnerved Daniel. He was not at all convinced that these were not real creatures that were hanging around waiting to eat said four year old for dinner. He was soon distracted by grilled cheese and applesauce, though, and actually picked out a light up crocodile for his memento of the occasion. Joe picked out the complete Friends collection as his gift. We bought a few other DVDs while we walked the mall, bought Joe a new skin for his phone he received for Christmas and left the older boys there to catch a movie.
